SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 29, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — California Water Service Group (NYSE: CWT) today announced that retired Los Angeles County Fire Chief Daryl L. Osby has joined the company as Vice President, Emergency Preparedness, Safety, and Security, effective September 28.
“Daryl has had an impressive career in the fire service, during which he has demonstrated his ability to improve strategic planning and day-to-day operations, command effectively in emergencies, and manage emergency response services. “His dedication to public safety aligns perfectly with our commitment to the safety of our customers and employees,” said Martin A. Kropelnicki, President and CEO.
Osby assumed the role of fire chief for the Los Angeles County Fire Department in 2011, overseeing fire suppression and life safety services for more than four million residents and commercial businesses in 60 cities and 137 unincorporated communities. As fire chief, he led a team of 4,800 employees and managed an annual budget of $1.4 billion. His tenure has been characterized by progress in strategic planning, improvements in risk mitigation, improvements in training and policies, and support for employee wellness.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. He also sits on the boards of OneLegacy, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives through organ, eye and tissue donation, and the Special Needs Network, which supports underserved families struggling. with developmental disabilities.
