This is the 24th year that Inside Business has honored young professionals who are successful in their careers and who get involved in the community. The 40 people highlighted here represent a wide range of professions. They all work hard and often volunteer to make Hampton Roads a better place.
We hope this honor will encourage them and others to get out there and work even harder to be successful and involved. We thank our judges, listed here, whose commitment to this program has made it stronger over the years. Top 40 of the class of 2001 | Walter T. Camp is an independent commercial mediator, and he serves his clients as a business executive and consultant, attorney, owner’s representative on construction projects, and a certified management accountant. Selected by Volunteer Hampton Roads as the region’s 2022 Adult Volunteer of the Year, he is appointed to the Virginia Supreme Court’s Mediation Quality Committee, the Virginia Beach Active Transportation Advisory Committee (Chair), the Virginia Beach Mayor’s Commission on Wind and Clean Energy Offshore and in Virginia Beach. Citizens’ Committee on Councils and Commissions (Vice-Chair). He is secretary of the Historic Kempsville Citizens’ Advisory Committee and volunteer for local non-profit organizations.
Top 40 of the class of 2006 | Wanda Cooper is the owner of the law firm Cooper and specializes in traffic cases and serious criminal defense. She is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Virginia Beach Bar Association. She has received numerous accolades, including the Women in Business and Top 40 awards from Inside Business, as well as the Woman of Distinction award from the YWCA. She is on the school board of Green Run Collegiate.
Stephanie Gorham is a seasoned nonprofit leader with over 20 years of experience in Texas and Virginia. Volunteerism, particularly board service, has been an important part of her life as she has served on 11 non-profit boards since 2009, currently serving on the boards of the Hampton Roads Workforce Council and Voluntary Organizations of Southeast Virginia Active in Disaster. She is a 2012 recipient of the Top 20 Under 40 in North Texas, a 2012 graduate of Leadership Wichita Falls, a 2019 graduate of the CIVIC Leadership Institute, and recognized in Inside Business’ 2021 Women in Business and 2022 Power List’s People to Watch.
Top 40 of the Class of 2010 | Adam Rex is a financial planner on the board of a family-owned, full-service financial advisory business. He volunteers in financial literacy programs and has served on several boards, including the United Way Young Leaders Society, National Institute for Learning Development, NAIFA, and Hampton Chamber Ambassadors. Roads. Her job is to help clients make sound financial decisions to prepare for “whatever happens next.”
Top 40 of the Class of 2007 | Jennifer Ann Saunders Pfitzner is a partner at the accounting firm Saunders, Matthews & Pfitzner, PLLC. Her community involvement includes positions on the ForKids Board of Directors as Treasurer, the Maury Foundation, Wards Corner Lions Club and related foundation, and advisory positions with the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jacket Club. and the Cedar Point Ladies Golf Association. She is a 2016 graduate of the CIVIC Leadership Institute, 2017 Women in Business winner (Inside Business) and Norfolk Small Business of the Year winner (Hampton Roads Chamber).

He is the Managing Partner of Van Syckle Financial Group, a financial planning services company which was formed as a result of clients increasing sales in their businesses. He is the author of “What You Know About Selling Is NOT True”, Lead 757 Class of 2009 graduate, CIVIC Leadership Institute Class of 2014 graduate, and Founder of The Presidents Luncheon.
